The primary role of the Business Planner is to control the planning and scheduling of work and monitor the performance of the operational work force. The Business Planner will ensure customer deadlines and schedules are met and will communicate with the customer, operatives and management ensuring the operation is managed in a cost effective way. The Controller will assist the Operations Manager in keeping overtime, transport and labour costs to a minimum.
The Controller must completely understand the customers SLA’s, and use entrepreneurial skills to identify any additional charges the customer has to pay for, which sits outside of the agreed contractual boundaries.
The controller must be able to liaise with various members of the team to identify present/ future business opportunities
Planning Plan jobs around known and unknown holidays & sickness Organise none productive time (Lunch, depot visit etc.) and continuously monitor Liaise with admin staff to allocate teams for jobs received Organise jobs by planning in received jobs for the day To ensure all operatives are aware of the time scales and requirements of the jobs.
Monitoring To monitor the progress of jobs by use of the scheduler to co-ordinate the fitting teams throughout their Branch in accordance with customer needs To monitor the completion of PDA’s by operatives Review over due jobs and manage by exception Liaise with Operatives obtained from visible information on the Scheduler. Liaise with Operatives and supervisors where issues arise on site (H & S, Customer spec etc.) Ensure effective use of labour and transport Stock management for planning and asset control purposes
General To answer the telephone as required and ensure calls are dealt with promptly and professionally. Demonstrate an excellent customer service focus when dealing with clients, other members of staff and members of the public. To liaise with customers and the call centre, when required Organisation of the depot call out rota and weekend work rota To complete general office duties as and when required. To ensure that all company procedures including health & safety, ISO9001 are adhered to by yourself & other employees in the branch
Essential skills required Experience of scheduling in a service despatch environment is essential, preferably in a computerised environment Must be able to demonstrate a commercial approach to the role Able to understand contract terms and conditions. Proven organisational skills and ability to coordinate/distribute jobs effectively Leadership qualities, Managing conflict
Package £17-18k plus performance relates bonus up to £21k. 40hr week shifts between 8am-6pm.Mon-Fri. 20 days holiday accruing 1 extra per year up to 25. 4% pension if you match it.
